Paddle for Life is a team effort, and it takes more than paddlers to bring this event to life! If you're passionate about making an impact beyond your peer-to-peer fundraising, consider joining one of our sub-committees. Your involvement will play a crucial role in shaping the success of our 16th Annual Paddle for Life.

Below are the sub-committees and their responsibilities. Explore where your skills and interests align and join us in creating an unforgettable experience for all!

REGISTRATION SUB-COMMITTEE


Primary Goal: Ensure a smooth and efficient registration process for paddlers, Team Captains, and volunteers.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the registration platform and troubleshoot issues.

  • Communicate with Team Captains and individual paddlers about deadlines, forms, and waivers.

  • Host informational meetings for Team Captains to address questions and share updates.

  • Track participant numbers and ensure all required documents are submitted.

MARKETING SUB-COMMITTEE


Primary Goal: Promote Paddle for Life and boost fundraising efforts through strategic communication and outreach.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and schedule social media posts, email campaigns, and press releases.

  • Work with media partners like Maui Now to maximize event visibility.

  • Highlight participant stories, fundraising progress, and sponsorships.

  • Develop promotional materials, such as graphics, flyers, and ads.

SPONSORSHIP SUB-COMMITTEE


Primary Goal: Secure financial and in-kind sponsorships to support the event and fundraising goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Reach out to local businesses and organizations for sponsorships.

  • Distribute sponsorship packets and follow up with potential sponsors.

  • Maintain relationships with past sponsors and thank them for their support.

  • Explore new opportunities, such as merchandise partnerships, for fundraising incentives.

LOGISTICS SUB-COMMITTEE


Primary Goal: Oversee all logistical aspects of the event to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate permits with the County of Maui, DLNR, and Pulama for launch, landing, and camping.

  • Manage safety protocols, including safety boat and escort boat arrangements.

  • Organize campsite setup, meals, and supplies for the event weekend.

  • Ensure equipment (e.g., tents, electrical, coffee pots) is available and set up.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATION SUB-COMMITTEE


Primary Goal: Recruit, organize, and manage the Kokua Crew (event volunteers).

Responsibilities:

  • Identify volunteer needs and assign roles (e.g., food setup, paddler assistance, safety support).

  • Provide training and instructions to volunteers before the event.

  • Communicate with volunteers about schedules and expectations.

  • Ensure volunteers feel valued and appreciated for their contributions.

TEAM CAPTAIN SUB-COMMITTEE


Primary Goal: Serve as the primary liaison between Team Captains and event organizers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing support to Team Captains, including fundraising tips and safety briefings.

  • Host regular meetings to share updates and address questions.

  • Track team progress toward fundraising and event readiness.

  • Foster collaboration and camaraderie among Team Captains.
